Our wedding was everything we imagined and more and we thank Almarie and all the staff for making our day truly magnificent.

We would like to give special thanks to our parents for their love and support, our beautiful bridesmaids/handsome groomsmen and finally to Orette who introduced us and although he has parted from us on Earth we felt his presence.

About Us

THE BRIDE -  Born Roxanne Rachel in the heart of East London, the 23 year-old Bride-to-Be is striving to realise her ambitions and fulfil her dreams during the year 2007.

Roxanne is studying to become a Social Worker at De Montfort-Leicester University; and after graduation aspires to become a Child Protection Officer.

Other than her career goals Roxanne has a passion for exploring Jamaica and Afro Caribbean/African Culture, socialising with friends and family (not forgetting raving on a Friday night at Player’s Club).

A family-orientated woman, Roxanne looks forward to her unity with Robert and becoming both a wife and mother in the years they will share together.

THE Groom Born Robert Wellesley in Jamaica, the 29 year-old Groom-to-be plans to welcome his wife into the heart of his close-knit family.

Robert currently lives with his father, brother and nephew in Bellasgate, Saint Catherine. He works long hours nurturing cattle and cultivating the land, which exemplify his strong beliefs in caring for his family and home. Robert enjoys reasoning and conversing with his bredrins, brothers and sisters, of which there are seven.

Robert’s familial commitment and values will ensure that a lasting impression is made on his new relatives.

Our Story

HOW WE MET - Definitely a “holiday romance” with a twist.

Before leaving to go to Jamaica, Roxanne visited her friend Orette.  Knowing how she liked “pretty-eyed men”, Orette joked how she would really suit his ‘Rasta’ friend in Jamaica but little more was said...

Whilst in J.A, Roxanne and her friend arranged to meet Orette’s family and friends on the 30th December 2003.  Both Roxanne and Denise remember their shock at seeing such handsome men standing on their verandah.

Roxanne admits, “I remember trying to blank Robert intentionally and focusing my attention to the others so that it wasn’t obvious that I was completely attracted and curious about him. We spent the whole day at the beach and I will not forget watching him run to the sea, dive in and then appear after a short while from the water, shaking and waving his locks around; if anyone has seen One Love the film when Ky-mani Marley dives into the River and then shakes his locks, it was like that, truly beautiful”.

After Roxanne returned to England, they kept up the communication as often as they could, but it wasn’t until the death of their dear friend Orette that they both realized that life was too short to allow 10,000 miles to prevent them from finding happiness in each other.

They have since embarked on the long distance relationship that has brought them “an abundance of love, happiness and fulfilment” for the last two years.

The Engagement:

It wasn’t the traditional “get down on one knee” yet it is a perfect memory.

Robert and Roxanne spent their first holiday together at a resort in Ocho Rios in June 2006 and it was during one of their heartfelt conversations that he asked her to be his Queen.

 Our Wedding

THe ceremony - The wedding will take place in beautiful Jamaica on a private beach in Ocho Rios; Almarie of Tropical Weddings Jamaica will organize all details. The wedding theme/colours will be red & silver with tropical flowers to compliment. Both Bride and Groom will be dressed in white; they will wear an Alfred Angelo gown and traditional respectively.

The ceremony will take place at 4pm by the beachfront garden gazebo. The ceremony will be an intimate and personal one; the Bride will be serenaded down the aisle to the sweet vocal harmonies of her close friend Joel.

The couple are hoping for a simple yet elegant affair with family and friends to share the special “I do” experience with them.

THe RECEPTION - The reception will take place at the same venue, within the garden grounds.

Despite not having the traditional wedding they wish to include the tradition of having speeches, the first dance and so forth. Thus, they would like to inform all guests to attend with speeches and be prepared for a good time at the reception.

If any non-attending relatives or friends wish to send any message, please contact the  Chief Bridesmaid using the details provided.
